Two Armholes and a Sleeve.
This dress features two armholes, with the sleeve hanging through the second, lower armhole. You can see the exposed seam allowance inside the sleeve, which is part of the design.
The sleeve cap creates a draped effect, sinking into the opening. Since the shoulder width is narrow, darts are added to the sleeve cap to follow the natural curve of the shoulder.
When the hanging sleeve is pulled to the other side, it transforms into a regular sleeve. The second armhole is cleverly hidden under the armpit.
If we abstract this structure, it’s essentially two holes with fabric sewn to them.
This prototype was inspired by the 1990s Comme des Garçons runway shows. It’s a brilliant structural design that can be adapted to various styles and applications.
